Every girl needs a best friend, right?

The summer before 5th grade someone just my age moved in right next door and I found my best friend.  We enjoyed so many of the same things it was fun just having someone to share everyday life with who seemed to get me.  We had so many plans for Jr. High you remember those days, don’t you?

Then it happened…..her father was transferred to Ohio.

They moved just weeks before our 7th grade year would start.   Jr. High went as ok as it could when you are minus your best friend. I worked hard and saved up enough money to be able to visit my friend in her new home that summer.

That visit changed my life.

I had met the Lord as my savior when I was nine on Easter Sunday.  I remember that day realizing that I had sinned and I needed the sacrifice of the Lord to wash away my sins so I asked Him to take care of that for me right there on the spot.

But that summer during my visit with Kathy I learned how to read His word and develop a moment by moment relationship with him.  I am so thankful for that time in my life.  I enjoyed  learning more and more about him and growing closer and closer relationship with Him during this time of growth and exploration as a teenager.

The Lord knows what life will hold for us and provides for us all that we need.

I was so thankful that I learned how to have a close relationship with my Lord as a young person.  He was my best friend throughout high school.  I poured my heart out to Him all the time.  I learned to experience His comfort and to trust Him and His will for my life. Don’t get me wrong I had friends to run around with just not someone who got me as well as my Lord did.

Having a 24/7 relationship with my Lord early in my life made the heartaches that came bearable.

Of course I have not been faithful everyday but I have been able to enjoy the Grace that only He can give throughout many transitions.

If you have not learned to engage our Lord in a 24/7 relationship I encourage you to explore how you can do that.  There are so many resources available but the one must is to spend time with Him.  Reading His word and talking with Him like a friend are the two best ways I have found to grow in my Love and understanding of Him.

But if anyone obeys his word, love for God is truly made complete in them. This is how we know we are in him:
